Frank goes tailgating in Pittsburgh’s Southside?

A lot of people like to tailgate before a concert, but what happens if the show you are attending is on a strip in the city with no ample party zone? Well, the answer is clear when this occurs in the Southside of Pittsburgh. Last week I went to a show at Diesel, a venue that operates as a club and live music venue. My night worked out perfectly. Before the show, I was able to walk around and check out all the different stores and boutiques that the Southside has to offer. Once Diesel’s doors opened, my friends and I moved inside to discover a floor crowded with people who were filled with energy and eagerness. Being of age is an advantage in these situations, seeing as Diesel reserves the upper half of their club strictly for those over the age of 21. It was awesome to relax with my friends and watch one of my favorite bands play live while slowly sipping on a mixed drink! When Diesel doesn’t have any bands performing, that doesn’t mean that the music stops. Any other day they have the best music possible, played by the best DJ around. I did end up getting my feel for the food aspect of tailgating, though a bit later in the night. We stopped at Tom’s Diner on the way home to grab a bite. Tom’s has an awesome retro setting, great food, and affordable prices.

The Southside, located on East Carson Street, always has something to offer the night owls of the city. This was just another weekday night, keeping myself busy with something to do. If you haven’t made your way out and about yet, I suggest you do! In the mean time, stay classy Pittsburgh!
