Frank’s View of PNC Park

By Frank August 27th, 2008

The Pirate’s may not be the best team in the league but their position adds more entertainment to PNC Park guests.  PNC Park’s traditional sky blast was a fun filled night packed with a ball game, concert, and fireworks show.  Our beloved Pittsburgh Pirates went up against Cincinnati in an ill-fated match that I’d rather not talk about.  It wasn’t too bad of a game; they were tied until the last few innings or so.  You have to give them credit; they seem to carry some spirit.  In an effort to get people to come to the ballpark, PNC Park arranges these series of live performances with Zambelli fireworks, a win win situation if you ask me.  REO Speedwagon performed the night I was in attendance and Zambelli’s blast away to tunes of our past.  It was a beautiful clear night and as the fireworks hit the Pittsburgh skyline, any and all recollection of the game that just occurred was out of mind.  They have something going for them there at the ballpark.  Massive amounts of people were shipped off to the Andy Warhol Bridge, located a block away afterwards, due to the Roberto Clemente Bridge being closed for the fireworks.  All those who parked downtown had to follow a lovely line of people in what ended up being a semi tour of Pittsburgh’s North Shore.  Though the Pirates may not be the best baseball team around, there’s one thing that I love them for – being in Pittsburgh.  As long as I keep experiencing these great things at the ballpark I’ll keep going.  Sooner or later they will make it big, just like REO Speedwagon and Zambelli fireworks!
